MEA spring tea

The McCook, Nebraska, Education Association (MEA) honors teachers retiring at the end of the 2011-12 school year at its annual spring tea May 2. George Briggs, who was not available for the photograph, said it's time to retire when he can see the kids of the kids of the kids he's taught coming up through the ranks. Other retirees are (back row, from left): Janet Hepp, 23 years; Kari Quigley, 36 years; Lynda Baumbach, 24 years; and Denise Lee, 34 years. Front row: Sharon Bohling, 38 years; April Green 32 years; and Dee Friehe, 32 years. McCook High School graduating senior Kelsey Collicott, the daughter of Jeri and Dick Collicott of Culbertson, accepted the 2011-12 MEA college scholarship from scholarship committee member Shelly Sehnert. Kelsey plans to study elementary education, starting her college studies first at McCook Community College.
