ARAPAHOE, Nebraska -- Elsie Jane Townsend, 62, of Arapahoe, Nebraska, died Wednesday (May 2, 2012), at her home.
She was born Feb. 18, 1950, in Omaha, Nebraska, to Richard and Dorothy (Knapp) Jackson.
She went to Omaha Technical High School where she met Eugene Townsend. They were married Dec. 31, 1966, in Irvington, Nebraska. They made their home in Arlington, Nebraska, until moving to Elwood in 2000 where they ran The Reverie Cafe on Elwood Reservoir.
She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church of Arapahoe, Nebraska.
She was preceded in death by her parents; mother-in-law, Shirley Townsend; brother, Richard Jackson; sister, Maureen Heywood; and brother-in-law, Chuck Heywood.
Survivors include husband, Eugene Townsend of Arapahoe, sons, Daniel and wife, Penelope Townsend of Arapahoe, Gary and wife, Heather Townsend of Fairfield, Nebraska, Adam and wife, Gretchen Townsend of Wellington, Colorado, Kenneth and wife, Nicole Townsend of Elwood, Nebraska, James Townsend of Arapahoe; brothers, David Jackson of Omaha, Nebraska, Donald Jackson of Harlan, Iowa, Frank Jackson of Omaha, Eugene Jackson of Omaha; sisters, Linda Bestwick and Judy Williamson, both of Omaha; 11 grandchildren, two great- grandchildren and special friend, Peg Cozad of Omaha.
Funeral services are Monday, May 7, at 1 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Arapahoe, Nebraska, with Revs. James Moshier and Duane Simonson officiating. Burial will be at Arapahoe Cemetery.
Viewing and visitation will be one hour before the funeral service at the church.
