McCOOK, Nebraska -- The west wall in the meeting room at the KNGN 1360 AM radio station is filling up with a wide variety of auction items donated by area businesses and individuals, for the station's 2012 "Labor of Love" Share-A-Thon Wednesday through Friday, April 25-27.

"Every year is a testament to God's grace," said Adam Spanier, general manager at the station. "God is doing great things in spite of the trials and tribulations of life."

Spanier, who has ably held the reins at KNGN since 2008, guiding the staff and station through a variety of upgrades and the construction of the new tower, is looking forward to the spring Share-A-Thon.

"The theme 'Labor of Love' is taken from 1 Corinthians 15:58 which reads, 'Stand firm. Let nothing move you. Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord, because you know that your labor in the Lord is not in vain,'" Spanier explained.

Spanier, and his crew: Ree Smock, David Sandman and newcomer Christy Larkin on the weekends, are planning three days in a "relaxed, informational environment" that people will enjoy listening to. Several on-air interviews are planned -- games, giveaways and auction items will fill the hours between 9 a.m. and 7 p.m.

Although supporters can bid on any item throughout the auction, the items have been divided among the three days. Wednesday auction items will be awarded Wednesday, beginning at 5 p.m.; Thursday items at 5 p.m., Thursday and so on. The auctions close at 7 p.m. each day.

A partial list of auction items includes a decorative plaque containing some of the names of Jesus from Farrell's Hallmark and Gifts; "Glimpses of Yesterday," a drawing by Michelle Lytle of her father's hands; a cross from Common Scents; a Nebraska Cornhusker's nightshirt from Eakes Office Plus; a Bible and the Lutheran Service Book, both from Peace Lutheran Church; cat and dog food from Stockman's Feed and Seed; John Deere Tractor from Plain's Equipment Group; two tractors from Klein's; gift certificates from BDC's Barbershop, Modern Cleaners, and Willow Creek Meats; "The Story" and "Luther" the movie from New Life Christian Bookstore; a Hummel figurine from Peterson Jewelry; a car vacuum from Tinker Tom's; a lined windbreaker from Garrison's for Men; and a candle from Weskamp Floral.

More auction items arrive daily and an up-to-date list, with photos and descriptions is available online at www.kngn.org. The McCook Right To Life group has also donated several lapel pins that will serve as bonus items with random auction items.
