CULBERTSON, Nebraska --Artie Lebsack from McCook was the guest speaker when the Culbertson Women's Club held their April 5, 2012, meeting at the Culbertson Public Library. Jerry and Jean Beideck were also guests.

President Lillian Kehler called the meeting to order and led the group in Club Collect and the flag salute. The minutes were read and approved.

The president called to our attention the elementary art that was on display at the library. The art contest is one of the Women's Club projects.

Bonnie Weber introduced the speaker who spoke of his experiences in Guam during World War II. When he entered the service he and his twin brother were separated. His 12-year old sister wrote to President Roosevelt about getting them back together. The President and Senator George Norris saw that they were reunited and they remained together throughout their time in service.

He spent two years on the front line and saw plenty of action. He was in the two percent that had seen that kind of action.

His daughters were responsible for his being able to go back to Guam a few years ago. While he was there he was treated royally and was able to stay in the governor's mansion.

In June, he and his daughters are flying to Washinton D.C. From there along with some other veterans they plan to fly to Europe for a tour.

The roll call theme was about receving an award. The speaker had one of his awards on display.

Lillian Kehler and Hope Strong were the hostesses. The group enjoyed visiting after the meeting while they had their refreshments. The next meeting will be a Style Show on May 3.
