Administrative salaries tabled, for now

McCOOK, Nebraska -- The McCook School Board postponed any action on salaries and benefits for administration.

After the regular meeting Monday night, the board met in closed session to discuss the compensation package for school principals, assistant principals and other administrative staff. No action was taken after the closed session.

Positive comments made by board members at the close of the regular meeting included:

Rick Haney, MPS Business Manager: thanked parents and board member Shane Messersmith for driving the vans that took FFA students to the state convention.

Diane Lyons: thanked the high school drama students for their performance at the McCook Elementary, with one her daycare kids telling her, "It was not just good, but great!"

Teresa Thomas: thanked those who help with Carnival Night; recently toured the armory and high school.

Shane Messersmith: enjoyed driving FFA students to the state convention in Lincoln.

Sandy Krysl: thanked junior class sponsors who decorated for prom, for parents who helped supervise and Rich Barnett for being the master of ceremonies at the promenade.

Larry Shields: congratulated Hardin for her test scores. "That is a class act, in my eyes," he said. Also congratulated FFA students on state convention awards.

Tom Bredvick: gave kudos to Mrs. Dueland's fourth grade students who recently performed at the Buffalo Commons Storytelling meeting. Enjoyed reading at McCook Elementary during "Read Across America." Also thanked the PTO for funds they raised.

Grant Norgaard: thanked the administrative staff who attended the job fair at Kearney, where more than 150 teacher candidates were interviewed. "This shows they are taking their job seriously," he said of his staff.
