OBERLIN, Kansas -- Edla (Nelson) Olson, 96, died Sunday (April 8, 2012), at Oberlin.
She was born May 14, 1915, to Frans and Mary (Henningson) Nelson in Herndon,Kansas.
She graduated from Decatur Community High School in 1932. She married Alvin Olson on Aug. 18, 1936, in rural Herndon. They farmed in the Midway community, then at Oberlin.
She was a member of United Methodist Church in Oberlin and United Methodist Women.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Fran and Mary Nelson; husband, Alvin Olson; brothers, Fred Peterson and Ernest Nelson; sisters, Vivian Anderson, Edna Peterson and Florence Carlson; and step-grandson, Scott Rhodin.
Survivors include her son, Galen and wife, Lynne Ilson of Oberlin; daughters, Arian and husband, Steven Arnold of Herndon and Nione and husband, Michael Rhodin of Loveland, Colorado; a grandson and one great-granddaughter.
Services are Thursday, April 12, 2 p.m. at Pauls Funeral Home in Oberlin with the Rev. Keith Reuther officiating. Interment is at the Oberlin Cemetery.
Visitation is Wednesday from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Thursday from 8 a.m. until time of service at Pauls Funeral Home.
Memorials may be given to the Decatur County Good Samaratian Society or donor's choice.
