SUTHERLAND, Nebraska -- Wayne T. Einspahr, 88, of Sutherland, died March 8, 2012 at the Sutherland Care Center.

He was born Nov. 22, 1923, at Hamlet, Nebraska to Theodore and Susie (Herbert) Einspahr. He grew up in Wauneta, Nebraska and graduated from Wauneta High School in 1943.

He served in the U.S. Army from 1943-1945 in Normandy, Germany.

He married Shirely Wamsley in Oberlin, Kansas, May 25, 1947. To this union three children were born.

He worked in the plumbing and heating business until he hired on as a pipefitter with the UPRR, retiring after 21 years.

He is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Dick and Robert; sisters, Norma Schultz and Millie Long.

Survivors included his wife, Shirley of Sutherland; daughters, Cynthia and husband, Bill Allgood, Michelle and husband, Jack Blomstedt; son, David and wife, Cindy Einspahr, all of Sutherland; sisters, Beulah Purdy of Wauneta and Delores and husband, Claude Cappel of McCook; brothers, Donald and wife, Pat Einspahr of McCook and Alvin and wife, Kaye of Enspahr of Enders, Nebraska; seven grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Services were Monday, March 12 at the Grace Lutheran Church in Sutherland.

Carpenter Funeral Home in North Platte was in charge of arrangements.
