CLAYTON, Kansas -- Max G. Ward, 92, died Wednesday (March 14, 2012), at Decatur Health Systems in Oberlin, Kansas.

He was born March 15, 1920,to Ross and Stella (Griffith) Ward, one mile west of Clayton, Kansas in his mother's home.

He attended rural Clayton grade school and graduated from Clayton High School in 1937.

He married Norma Sebaugh March 16, 1947, in Norcatur, Kansas.

He served in the U.S. Navy in World War II. He was a farmer/rancher. He was member of the Clayton United Methodist Church, American Legion and the Clayton and Jennings school boards.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Ross and Stella Ward.

Survivors include his wife, Norma of Clayton; son, David Ward, of Clayton; daughters, Julie and husband, Ken Carter of Jennings, Kansas, Shelly and husband, Pat McKenna of Jennings and Lora and husband, Terry Wycoff of Scott City, Kansas; brothers, Gwynn and wife, Judy Ward of Loveland, Colorado; 12 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Services are at the United Methodist Church in Clayton, Kansas, Saturday, March 17, 2012, with the Rev. Ed Woods officiating. A private family inurnment will be set at a later date.

A Max Ward Memorial Fund has been established.

Pauls Funeral Home in Oberlin, Kansas is in charge of arrangements.
