Rarely are the terms "hilarious storyteller" and "theological scholar" used in the same sentence, much less used to describe the same person...but then again, Lisa Harper is anything but stereotypical! She has been lauded as a gifted communicator, whose writing and speaking overflows with colorful pop culture references that connect the dots between the Bible era and modern life. Her style combines sound scriptural exposition with easy-to-relate to anecdotes and comedic wit. Chances are you'll never look at the Bible the same way again after hearing Lisa's fresh take on the Scriptures. She brings the Bible to life--and has the know-how to do it, with a Masters of Theological Studies from Covenant Seminary.
The author of multiple books including her latest, "Stumbling Into Grace," Lisa spent six years as the director of Focus on the Family's national women's ministry followed by six years as the women's ministry director at a large church. She speaks at Women of Faith events and hundreds of church retreats all over the world, but it hasn't gone to her head. "I'm definitely grateful for the opportunities God's given me," Lisa says, "but don't forget, He often uses donkeys and rocks!" Lisa and her family of "critters" live in Tennessee. Other books by Lisa include: "Untamed" and "A Perfect Mess."
Praise and worship team leader, Stephanie Montes, and her team will lead the Women's Winter Retreat on Saturday. They will guide the women in worship music preparing hearts for what the Lord wants to teach through Lisa's message. Stephanie has been helping to lead worship music since high school. She met her husband, Oscar, in a worship band and they now help to lead music at the McCook E-Free Church. She and Oscar have a one-year-old and are expecting another baby in April. She looks forward to worshipping the Lord with the ladies at this year's retreat.
