College reaches settlement with former employee

Thursday, December 22, 2011

McCOOK, Nebraska -- The Mid-Plains Community College Board of Governors approved a $112,500 settlement with Carol A. Stensvad of McCook, Wednesday evening during a regular meeting in North Platte.

Stensvad is a former administrative assistant at McCook Community College and was terminated in November 2009 for "undisclosed personnel reasons."

The amount represents the approximate wages and benefits from the date of Stensvad's termination to the date of the settlement.

In a statement released by MPCC Thursday morning, the college said it believed the termination was necessary and proper, however "litigation and related expenses incurred may have been in excess of the terms of the settlement."

When contacted by the Gazette Thursday morning, Stensvad said she had no comment at this time.
