McCook Fire Department's Team Go Go Light competed in the World Firefighter Combat Challenge in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, turning in fast enough times in preliminary matches to advance to the finals on Friday, Nov. 25. The team competed against some of the world's most elite athletes, from Ireland, Canada, Australia and elsewhere. "It was a great time for firefighters to compete against each other and at the same time have a great respect for each and every person," team member Mark Kool said. "We have competed in the past in Denver, Omaha, Colorado Springs, Rapid City, Fort Collins and twice in Las Vegas, and there was never a time when you weren't wished good luck and congratulated before and after all runs," he said. Other team members include Adam Johnson, Mike Shoenemann, Steve Renner and Justin Davis. They expressed their thanks to sponsors Kleins Motor & Electric, Janssen Kool Honda,Cora Berry, L.B. Motors, Red Willow Animal Clinic, Community Hospital, Lifetime Eyecare, Willow Creek Meats, The Coppermill, and the McCook Clinic.
