Smoky fire

Red lights on a Red Willow Western fire department truck reflect off clouds of smoke building above smoldering shingles in the bed of a dump truck parked in the Weathercraft Roofing yard a mile east of McCook, Nebraska, early this morning. Firefighters were called to two burning dump trucks about 10 p.m., Wednesday, and then again this morning about 6 a.m. when it appeared to passersby that the fire might be rekindling. Fire chief Bill Elliott said firefighters set water sprinklers on smoking, smoldering contents overnight. Elliott said a state fire marshal is en route to investigate the cause of the fire.
