Eleanor Marie Nickerson

LONGMONT, Colorado --Eleanor Marie Nickerson, age 75 of Longmont, died Wednesday, (Oct. 12, 2011), at Longmont United Hospital, due to complications of PSP (Progressive Supranuclear Palsy).

Born in Curtis, Nebraska, she was a daughter of the late Carl and Katie Jensen Olsson. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Delbert Olsson and his wife Dorothy, and a sister, Evelyn Mercer and her husband Kelly.

Eleanor and her family moved to Boulder in 1964. She was a manager with StorageTek for 16 years, as well as a member of the First Congregational Church, and the Buffalo Belles. Ellie was dedicated to CU athletics, volunteering at the athletic office, and was involved with the Buffalo Belles since they started in 1970. She was a caring and thoughtful mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She never missed an opportunity to support the activities and achievements of her family. Her spirit will be missed by everyone who knew and loved her.

Eleanor is survived by her husband, Elden "Nick" Nickerson, whom she married in Curtis, on Dec.16, 1956; son, Dennis Nickerson and his wife Helen; daughters, Janet Boucher and her husband, Derek, Deanne Griebe and her husband, Troy, Jill McCurdy and her husband, Harold; one brother, Gary Olsson and his wife Cheri; 11 grandchildren, and eleven great-grandchildren.

A memorial service was Tuesday, Oct.18, 2011 at the First Congregational Church in Boulder, with the Pastor Jason Hayes officiating. A reception followed the service. A private inurnment will be held at Green Mountain Cemetery in Boulder.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Buffalo Belles, or to Cure PSP.

Eleanor and her family are in the care of Darrell Howe Mortuary, 1701 W. South Boulder Road, Lafayette, Colorado.
