Stanley Delmar Knudsen

PARIS, Texas --Stanley Delmar Knudsen, 84, of Paris, Texas, former long-time Lexington resident, passed away peacefully Friday (Oct. 7, 2011), in Paris, Texas. Stanley had moved to Paris, Texas and resided at Springlake Assisted Living.

Stanley was born April 5, 1927, in Cozad, Nebraska to Soren and Anna (Rasmussen) Knudsen. He married Jean Louise Allaway on June 26, 1949, in Homer, Nebraska.

He was a member of the United States Navy and proudly served in WWII and the Korean War. He graduated from the Waltham School of Watchmaking in Boston, Massachusetts, and was a watchmaker and jeweler. He owned and operated Knudsen's Jewelry in Lexington, Nebraska for 36 years. Known for his custom jewelry designs, he enjoyed sharing his creations with others.

He was active in his church, community leadership, civic organizations, antique car club, and was the past president of the Nebraska and South Dakota Jewelers Association. He enjoyed riding horses, playing tennis, golfing, sailing, skiing, and working/playing on the family "Ponderosa."

Above all, he treasured his relationships with family and friends. Stan was a friend to everyone and never met a stranger. He was always giving of himself and available to anyone in need.

He is survived by two daughters and their husbands, Kathy and Al Schneider of Ashland, Nebraska and Jane and Arthur Tijerina of Paris, Texas; grandchildren: Nathan and wife, Sarah Schneider, Kip and wife Julie Schneider, Brooke Schneider, Nicole Tijerina, Ryan Tijerina, Lauren and husband, Brian Temple, Leslie Stenberg, Danese and husband, Dustin Zander, and Adrienne and husband Geoff Grub; great-grandchildren: Katie and Emily Kjendal, Abby Schneider, Liviana Schneider, Alex, Jacob and Erin Stenberg, and Evan Sophia Zander; sister-in-law, Gloria Knudsen; and many fond nieces and nephews.

Stan is preceded in death by his wife in 2006, parents and four brothers.

A Celebration of Life Service will be Saturday, Oct. 15, 2011, at 11 a.m. at St. John's Lutheran Church in Cozad, Nebraska with Kathy Gundell, PMA officiating. Military Honors will be done following the funeral service at the church.

Visitation will be held one hour prior to the Celebration of Life.

Inurnment will take place at a later date at St. John's Lutheran Cemetery.

Memorials are suggested to St. John's Lutheran Church or the Donor's Choice.
