McCOOK, Nebraska --Marion Christina Estergard-Carter-Gilbert passed away Sept. 22, 2011 at the Hillcrest Nursing Home in McCook, Nebraska at the age of 87.
She was born March 11, 1924 in Cambridge, Nebraska to Lizzie (Petersen) and Anton Estergard. As a young woman, Marion taught school in a one-room rural Nebraka schoolhouse.
On Aug. 31, 1947, she married Lee I. Carter. They had one daughter, Cathy, in November 1948.
Marion worked at JC Penney Co. for many years, first as a women's sportswear buyer and later catalog department manager. After47 years of marriage, Lee passed away.
Marion again found love and companionship with Beau Gilbert. They were married April 24, 1996.
Marion was preceded in death by parents Lizzie and Anton Estergard, Lee I. Carter on Oct. 5, 1994; brothers, Kevin, Raymond, Willard, Lloyd and sisters, Violet Bramble, Virginia Ohlson, Gladys Petersen, Eunice Schwerdfeger, Isabelle Seago, Evelyn Bremer and Gamette McDonald.
She is survived by her husband, Beau Gilbert, daughter, Cathy and husband Gene Wasia of Billings, Montana; step-daughter, Suzan and husband, Larry Weber of Frank-town; Colorado; step-son Michael and wife, Jan Gilbert of McCook, Nebraska; grandson Chris and wife, Angie Wasia of Bozeman, Montana; grandson Jason and wife Marlene Wasia of Cody, Wyoming; step granddaughter Ashley and husband, Phil Brewer of Denver, Colorado; stepgraiidaughter Alex Weber of Denver, Colorado; step- granddaughter, Natalie and husband John Marks of Culbertson, Nebraska.
Burial was in Memorial Park Cemetery 11:00 a.m. Monday September 26, 2011.
