McCOOK, Nebraska -- McCook, Nebraska, Public Schools board of education members will interview at their meeting Monday the two candidates who expressed an interest in serving on the school board by the Aug. 1 deadline.
Both Darin Morgan and Teresa Thomas will be interviewed, and one or the other will be seated immediately to continue with the final two agenda items of the meeting scheduled to begin at 6 p.m., in the junior high board room.
The board vacancy was created by the resignation in June of board member Maury Green after a conviction of driving while intoxicated and disturbing the peace.
Prior to seating the best school board candidate, board members will conduct a public hearing to accept input on board policy concerning parental involvement in schools.
The regular meeting agenda includes discussion of the Nebraska National Guard Armory, which is being offered for sale; approval of local substitute certificates; the yearly review of board policies concerning parental involvement in schools and bullying prevention; and approval of a teaching contract and the acceptance of a resignation.
The newest board member will be appointed and he/she will take the oath of office before the board goes into a closed session to discuss the possible purchase of the armory.
Back in open session, the board will give Superintendent Grant Norgaard direction to submit a sealed bid for the purchase of the armory, and board members will make their monthly "Positive Comments."
