Remember when?

Tuesday, July 19, 2011

An old gas station sign purchased at the Frances and V.W. Sauvage auction in Oberlin, Kansas, auction Saturday brings back memories of cheap gas -- years and years ago. How many years ago? The sign, tied into the back of the pickup with a garden cart, blue wheelbarrow and black plastic fish pond, proved to be popular with fellow drivers on the highway between Oberlin and McCook, as passing cars honked, a couple truckers blasted their air horns and even a motorcyclist gave it a "thumbs-up." The sign will be donated to complement the display of old cars at the Museum of the High Plains in downtown McCook.
