City manager heading west

Wednesday, June 1, 2011

McCOOK, Nebraska -- The McCook City Council was informed Thursday that City Manager Kurt Fritsch has accepted a position as city manager of Warrenton, Oregon, and that June 10 would be his last day.

Fritsch told the Gazette that he was from Longview Washington, about an hour from Warrenton and that he had family in the area.

"I am purchasing a small farm on the Washington side of the Columbia River. I will start on June 27, in Warrenton and am replacing Mr. Robert Maxfield, who is retiring.

"I am grateful to have served this wonderful community for the past five years," said Fritsch.

Mayor Dennis Berry said McCook would miss his leadership and added, "he was one of the most pro-active, progressive managers in McCook's recent history and he was a watchful steward of the tax dollar."

  • Mr Fritsch will be missed. Good leadership, non biased, proactive and budgeted minded. Warrenton, you're getting an excellent manager!

  • I agree, some good things were accomplished under Mr. Fritsch. I hate to see him go. Hopefully we don't end up with another John Bingham who will undo all that has been done.

  • ironcat, the TCE contamination has been ongoing for 20+ years. This is NOT the fault of Mr. Fritsch. Northrup Grumman has been on the job, continuously working on cleaning up and monitoring the contamination. If you read, research everything involved, you might learn that this takes time. There is no "good ole boys" club. They can only do what they can do with the scientific information that is given and the technologies that are available. YOU CAN'T BLAME ANY OF THIS ON MR. FRITSCH!

  • I have never seen a paragraph of that length contain only four sentences.

As for the $100,000, I am sure most of that will be used for the next city manager. Unless they find someone willing to work for free.

  • As stated ironcat, this has been going on for over 20 years. Where have you been? Do your research and you'll find that Mr. Fritsch has nothing to do with this. Just having to listen to your empty complaining about something that NG has been TRYING to fix for 20 years!

  • The TCE in the water also causes people to become irrational, talk about communism and hitler, and paranoid.

  • Good riddance to a male chauvanist as well as a filthy mouthed politician! If this man is what the council considers to be "good" I would hate to see what they talk like as well!

  • Jerry, oh I mean ironcat, guess they have cut your time on Openline and you finally showed up here.

You have a right to be concerned about the TCE, but the outgoing city manager was not around when it happened, and can not be blamed.

He did a lot of good things for this town, streets are starting to be replaced, old buildings are gone.....guess you are not agreeing with that one. HA.

I question your statements about the TCE contaminating the new water line. I would think that a new line would be better protected against contamination. Perhaps not. Do you have some information you could share on contamination of a new water line?

I for one thougth he did a lot more good for this city than what you believe bad. After attending most of the same meetings as you did, some of the statements made by some the people attending he was justified in questioning their truthfullness!!

You seem to think that everyone that is not in agreement with you is dumb, perhaps a long look in the mirror is overdue for you. If everyone agreed on everything, it would be a very boring world!

  • talking to walls, yet another sign of tce ingestion. I think ironcat would be happy if NG paid him about 10 million dollars for his property.

  • I think if you're going to call people "sheeples" then you had better make arguments as validly as Ayn Rand. Jumping straight to ALLCAPS "red communism" and invoking the name of Hitler kind of "turns people off" with regard to listening to an argument that is based on frustration and opinion. If I don't miss my guess, it makes people think the person arguing for what could very well be a legitimate point, is a bit extreme and may not be taken seriously. This is just how I see what has been written so far, not that what I see matters.

  • ironcat!

did you find the Chizz? You are a paranoid wacko believing in Chemtrail, morgallons and other really strange stuff. You spout conspiracy theory dogma that doesn't have any basis in fact and can't believe that people think you are a nut! Why don't you stick the the truth denied web site, at least all there hold the same beliefs and you won't seem so strange.

Bty, the offer of shore line property in Nevada and a case of Chizz still stands. ;)

  • I know I am making a mistake by even responding because it will only continue the cycle, but really, dude? I haven't received a penny. Anyone else? Anyone spouting fancy words? or are they just able to form a syntactically and orthographically correct sentence that isn't filled with what appears to be ignorant rantings of a conspiracy nut.

I am amazed though, how did you know we have chew on our chins? I thought we wiped that off. If my kids brains turn to jelly I hope its grape...that's my favorite. I hope they poo peanut butter then and we can just make us a sangwich! It'll be nummy.

  • No, you live in a world of morans, a level below morons.

No interest in a case of Chizz? goes good with reddens.

  • Was that a five-speed or a three-speed transmission? I got one of those new Brita filters that goes in a portable bottle that I can let Eskimos drink from so I'm not getting poisoned. I'm still Jonesin' for a PB&J though. Peanut butter jelly time peanut butter jelly time peanut butter jelly and a baseball bat!
