City manager heading west
McCOOK, Nebraska -- The McCook City Council was informed Thursday that City Manager Kurt Fritsch has accepted a position as city manager of Warrenton, Oregon, and that June 10 would be his last day.
Fritsch told the Gazette that he was from Longview Washington, about an hour from Warrenton and that he had family in the area.
"I am purchasing a small farm on the Washington side of the Columbia River. I will start on June 27, in Warrenton and am replacing Mr. Robert Maxfield, who is retiring.
"I am grateful to have served this wonderful community for the past five years," said Fritsch.
Mayor Dennis Berry said McCook would miss his leadership and added, "he was one of the most pro-active, progressive managers in McCook's recent history and he was a watchful steward of the tax dollar."
