ELWOOD, Nebraska -- Evelyn Louise Fox, 86, died Sunday (April 24, 2011) at Tri County Hospital in Lexington, Nebraska.
She was born July 11, 1924, near Plato, Iowa to Charles and Minnie (Parsons) Taylor. Her elementary years were spent in country schools. She attended high school in Tipton, Iowa. After graduation she went on to Iowa State College in Ames, Iowa. She graduated from college with a bachelor's degree in home economics education.
She married Wesley Fox on Dec. 21, 1947. That marriage lasted the next 63 years. She taught home economics before she had four boys.
After living in the Ankeny, Iowa area the couple moved to Postville, Iowa in the early 1950s, then to Cozad, Nebraska in 1971, to Colby, Kansas in the late 1970s, and in 1987 they returned to Nebraska to Johnson Lake.
She taught Sunday school in the Presbyterian churches in Colby, Kansas and Lexington, Nebraska. She also served as president of the United Presbyterian Women in Colby and treasurer of her women's circle in Lexington.
During the 1970s while her husband was traveling, she managed the kitchen at Southview Manor in Cozad.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband; and son, Lynn Fox.
Survivors include her sons, Ryan Fox and wife, Sally of Montrose, Colorado, Kenneth Fox of Johnson Lake and Wallace Fox of Johnson Lake; brother, Max Taylor of Mechanicville, Iowa; sister, Doris Weist of Rochester, Minnesota; daughter-in-law, Diane Fox of Johnson Lake; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Funeral services are Monday, 10 a.m., at First Presbyterian Church in Lexington with the Rev. Caroline Vickery officiating. Inurnment is at Elwood Cemetery in Elwood, Nebraska.
There is no viewing or visitation.
