HUMBOLDT, Nebraska -- Scot Lee Knudson, 45, of Humboldt, was born on Sept. 24, 1965, in Overland Park, Kansas to Wallace and Beth (Hahn) Knudson. He grew up in Schaumburg, Illinois, Longmont, Colorado, and Palisade, Nebraska. Scot attended school in Palisade where he participated in football, basketball, and track. He graduated from Wauneta-Palisade High School with the class of 1984. After graduating, Scot continued his education at the University of Nebraska at Kearney and later received his master's degree from Doane College in Crete, Nebraska.

On March 21, 1998, Scot was united in marriage to Amanda Faith Jackson at the United Methodist Church in Palisade. To this union, three sons Anthony, Kaleb, and Nicolas were born. Scot began his teaching and coaching career at Wauneta-Palisade from 1991-98. He then took a teaching and coaching position at Humboldt-Table Rock-Steinauer Public Schools. The family lived in Auburn, Nebraska while Scot taught school and was the head basketball coach at HTRS. In 2000, Scot coached HTRS to the Nebraska State Basketball Championship shortly after the two schools consolidated. Scot and family later moved to Humboldt where he continued to teach, coach basketball, golf, and baseball, and serve as the director of activities.

Scot was a member of the Christian Church in Humboldt where he served as a deacon. He was a loving father, true role model in the community, and a faithful man that fought a long courageous battle against cancer.

Scot passed away at his home surrounded by his loving family on Tuesday, April 19, 2011, having reached the age of forty-five years, six months, and twenty-six days.

He was preceded in death by his father Wallace Knudson.

Scot is survived by his loving wife, Amanda Knudson of Humboldt; sons, Anthony, Kaleb, and Nicolas Knudson of Humboldt; parents, Beth and Bill Smith of Palisade; brothers, Kent and Laura Knudson of Wauconda, Illinois, Steven and Maureen Knudson of Schaumburg, Illinois, and Cliff and Nancy Smith of Olathe, Kansas; sisters, Sandy and LeMoine Ferguson of Holyoke, Colorado, Deb and Byron Alberts of Palisade and Kellie and Richard Miner of Palisade; mother-in-law, Carol Nelson of Lincoln, Nebraska; sister-in-law, Amber and Jeff Carrel of Beatrice, Nebraska; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and loyal friends.

Funeral services are at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, April 23, 2011, at The Christian Church in Humboldt with Howard Blecha officiating.

Visitation is from 9 a.m.-8 p.m. on Friday, April 22, 2011, at the Wherry Mortuary in Humboldt. Family will greet friends from 6-8 p.m. at the mortuary.

Interment is at the Humboldt Cemetery.
