OMAHA, Nebraska -- Former Hastings, Nebraska, resident, Kenneth L. Morris, 87, passed away Monday (April 18, 2011), at the Hospice House in Omaha.
Services will be Friday, April 22, 2011, 11 a.m., at Butler Volland Chapel in Hastings with Pastor Bob Winn officiating. Burial with military rites will be at Parkview Cemetery in Hastings.
Livingston-Butler-Volland Funeral Home & Cremation Center is in charge of arrangements.
Kenneth was born July 23, 1923, in Frontier County, Nebraska, to Benjamin Franklin and Sophia A. (Noltie) Morris. He graduated from N.S.A. Curtis in Curtis, Nebraska, in 1941. He married Mary E. Steele in April 1951; they later divorced.
On March 4, 1943, he entered the U.S. Navy and was honorably discharged on April 9, 1946. He farmed in Frontier County and worked for the U.S. Post Office in Hastings from 1967 until 1992.
He was a member of the Eagles Aerie No. 592 and former member of the American Legion.
Kenneth was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Esther M. Moncrief and Azella M. Morton; and one brother, Howard F. Morris.
Children and spouses, Kenneth L. Morris, II, and Theresa Morris of Hastings, Peggy Jo and Hugh Pierson of Millard, Nebraska, Christine Lynn and Phil Tackett of Bellevue, Nebraska, and Michael Scott and LeAnne Morris of Papillion, Nebraska; 10 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
