LEBANON, Nebraska -- Neal F. Warner passed away at his home in Lebanon on Wednesday, April 6, 2011. He was 84 years old.

Neal was born in Lebanon on Jan. 23, 1927, to Harry Dean and Aril Alameda (Ankenman) Warner. He graduated from Lebanon High School. Neal entered the U.S. Army on May 8, 1945, and served during World War II. He was honorably discharged on Dec. 18, 1946.

On Oct. 15, 1950, he was united in marriage to Frances Susan Kettering. Together they made their home on the family farm southwest of Lebanon where they raised their daughter, Susan.

Neal was a member of the Lebanon Presbyterian Church. He was a 60-year member of the Lebanon American Legion, Jack Helt Post No. 313 and charter member of the Beaver Valley Veteran's of Foreign Wars, Post No. 7719 where he served as the post's first commander. He served on the Hillcrest Nursing Home Board and Lebanon Cemetery Board for many years. Among his favorite pastimes included hunting, fishing, reading Louis L'amour western books, and hunting arrowheads. He was an avid Husker football fan and Yankee's baseball fan.

Preceding him in death were his parents, Harry and Aril Warner; one brother, Dean Warner; and one sister, Ramona Chambers.

Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Frances Warner of Lebanon; daughter, Susan and husband, Jay Wyatt of Lebanon; two brothers, Gail Warner and wife, Laurie of Holbrook, Nebraska, and Dale Warner and wife, Sharon of Weleetka, Oklahoma; two sisters, Virginia Schroder of Blair, Nebraska, and Deanna "Danny Lou" and husband, Larry Blackman of Bartley, Nebraska; special nieces, Cheryl and husband, Lonnie Boring of Brule, Nebraska, and Jean and husband, Bill Royer of Columbus, Nebraska; numerous nieces, nephews and a host of family and friends.

Memorials may be given in his name.

Visitation is Friday from 1-8 p.m at Carpenter Breland Funeral Home in McCook with family present to greet friends from 5-7 p.m.

Funeral services are Saturday, 11 a.m., at the Lebanon Presbyterian Church with Jerry Beckenhauer, Keith Theobald and Melody Adams officiating. A military committal will follow in the Lebanon Cemetery.
