McCOOK, Nebraska -- Bobbie Ray Lakey, 83, passed away Tuesday, March 22, 2011, at his home in McCook.
He was born Dec. 10, 1927, in Fairbury, Nebraska, the son of the late Robert and Anna (Larson) Lakey. At the age of five, the family moved to Holyoke, Colorado, where Bobbie grew up and graduated from rural school.
On April 25, 1948, Bobbie married Lois Arlene Smith in Merino, Colorado. They began farming and later moved to the state of Washington, where he was engaged in big ship building for 27 years.
They came to McCook in 1998, where they spent the remainder of their lives.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Lois on April 20, 2010.
Bobbie is survived by three daughters, Shirley Chmela of Holyoke, Colorado, Cathy Richard and husband, Samuel of Bothel, Washington, and Vera Hender and husband, David of Elwood, Nebraska; three grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and 24 great-great-grandchildren.
His request was for cremation and no services are planned.
