College board to consider iPads

Monday, March 21, 2011

NORTH PLATTE, Nebraska -- The Mid-Plains Community College Board of Governors will discuss swapping out their college-furnished laptops for iPads during their regularly scheduled monthly work session and board meeting, Wednesday, at North Platte Community College.

A work session will begin at 4:15 p.m. and also includes review of the PACE Climate Survey as well as capital improvement and ADA/Hazmat disposal plans.

The PACE survey was distributed in December to 172 employees and had an 86 percent completion rate. It seeks to obtain data about the work climate of the college that will be used to increase openness and communication between staff and administration.

The regular meeting will begin at 6:30 p.m., with board members reviewing the annual Jenzabar contract.

Jenzabar is MPCC's integrated information system provider, which requires an annual maintenance fee and is the college's communication backbone. The contract provides for ongoing use of the software system which handles a broad range of college tasks, from recording grades to the business operations of the college.

Dr. Michael Chipps, President of Mid-Plains Community College, has recommended the board approve the $127,519 contract with Jenzabar.
