KANSAS CITY, Kansas -- Sharon Jean Duncan, 64, passed away Thursday (Feb. 3, 2011).

Memorial services are at a later date in McCook, Nebraska.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to the American Diabetes Association.

Sharon was born Dec. 19, 1946, in Holdredge, Nebraska, to Harold and Ena Nokes. She graduated from McCook High School, later attended McCook Junior College, and graduated from Kearney State College with a Bachelor of Education in home economics.

She married Bill Ignowski on June 1970, then resided in Ord, Nebraska until 1979, and then resided in the Wichita, Kansas area with her three children. She worked at various facilities as a drug and alcohol counselor for most of her life.

Sharon moved to Kansas City, Kansas in 1996 and has lived there ever since.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Helen and Ted Ambler and Notie and Earl Nokes; an infant brother; and a first cousin.

Survivors include her three children, Amy K. Ignowski, Audrey A. Ignowski, and Adam M. Ignowski and his wife, and their two children; brother, Leslie Allen Nokes and his two sons; an aunt, L'Marie Robertson; and other numerous family members and friends.
