Bartley man charged with murder

McCOOK, Nebraska -- The 18-year-old Bartley, Nebraska, man jailed since Friday in connection with the death of 14-year-old Kailee Nicole Clapp of McCook was charged with first degree murder in Red Willow County Court this morning.

Stathis Sebastian Mobley Kirkpatrick of Bartley is also charged with use of a deadly weapon to commit a felony, a Class II felony; and tampering with physical evidence and unlawful burial, both Class IV felonies.

The complaint and information filed this morning against Kirkpatrick charges that he killed Clapp on or about Jan. 21, "purposely and with deliberate and premedicated malice," or in the perpetration of or attempt to perpetrate a kidnapping of Clapp.

Red Willow County Attorney Paul Wood also charges that Kirkpatrick used a knife or other deadly weapon to commit a felony, intentionally destroyed, removed or altered physical evidence and intentionally threw away or abandoned human skeletal remains.

Kirkpatrick was arrainged in Red Willow County Court this morning.
