To all parents, be watchful over your teenagers lives. The unthinkable is now here.

To all teenagers, now is not the time to be fashionably rebellious. The much needed attention you parents are giving you is to keep you safe and alive. This is now life and death.

To the family of Kailee, you will have my most sincere condolences and prayers. Do not try to "tough it out", be open and do let God do His work. He will provide you with the courage and guidance to deal with your loss. Let Him provide you the hope for the future.

I'm so sorry. I didn't know her, but I'm touched that such a sad thing could happen in our small town. Respects to the family.

My thoughts and prayers are with the family and friends of Kailee. I am so sorry for your loss. Why wasn't an amber alert issued? Even though they weren't sure in the beginning if she was in danger I still feel an amber alert should have been issued immediately.

-- Posted by dakota65 on Sun, Jan 23, 2011, at 11:39 AM

Why was there never an amber alert issued???

-- Posted by kenaicouple on Sun, Jan 23, 2011, at 1:04 PM

Please teens... Be smart. Never go out alone. Let you parents know where you are and when you will be home. Tell them who you are with at all times. Don't let this happen again. I feel so sorry for her friends and family that has to suffer because of this. Something that didn't need to happen.

Chunky Peanut Butter, says it like I would say it. My condolences, and prayers.

I do sincerely sympathize with this young girls family having gone throught this horrow myself I can only pray for their peace and justice for this horrible act that has taken one so young from the arms of her family and friends

I hate reading on every article that "the girl was not initially believed to b in danger" i just don't get that...she disappeared in the night,I also do not get that the police department did not investigate the alley for details until later during the afternoon. I like alot of other readers on here ask the same question to why wasn't there a national Amber Alert done? I also question to the disturbing facebook message from the girlfriend of the guy in custody. These should of all been clues that she did not run away!

We can ask why all we want bottom line is that Kailee is resting in peace with Jesus. Her spirit is with us. She will never be forgotten! She is a Child of God!!! We will fight for justice!

Now is not the time to criticize. The law enforcement personnel and first responders are dealing and investigating a horrible tragedy. They themselves are going to be changed forever as much as a lot of us in this community have had our security shaken.

Now is the time to come together and pray for the family, officials working on the case, students, teachers and faculty at school to help the students to cope with the loss of such a bright young lady.

God Bless You Kailee and your family.

This quite possibly the worst crime committed in McCook ever. The law enforcement personnel are my friends and neighbors. Unless you know a police officer or a dispatcher, you have know idea what these people have to go through to do their job.

You people need to be respectful to the family and the puplic servants just the same.

Please..... all parents of kids, get involved in their lives. Ask questions, who, what, where ,when, why.... be there for them. Make sure there is peace in their lives and not violence. Little things make a difference. Listen to what they have to say and what others are saying. Make yourself and them aware of what your surroundings are. Pay attention to your kids!!!

Kids.... listen to your parents. They have been around the block a few times. They do know warning signs. Listen to them.

Condolences and prayers to the family.

My deepest sympathy goes out to Kailee's family and friends. Such a senseless loss....but please,..don't be so quick to point a finger and ask "why didn't you" ...shake a hand or give a hugh and say "thank you". Our law enforcement personnell do the best that they can at ALL times. Please support them and the family of Kailee.
