McCOOK, Nebraska -- Red Willow County, Nebraska, Sheriff Gene Mahon and county commissioners will discuss jail options available to the county during the commissioners' meeting Monday in the courthouse in downtown McCook.
The meeting begins at 9 a.m. in the commissioners' room on the third floor.
The discussion of jail possibilities in McCook, a 10:30 a.m. agenda item, precedes a meeting Monday, Feb. 7, with the Nebraska Jail Standards Board.
Commissioners plan a board of equalization meeting at 9:15 a.m., during which treasurer Marleen Garcia will present applications for motor vehicle tax exemptions and tax roll corrections; and assessor Sandra Kotschwar will make her recommendations for real and personal property tax exemptions, and set a date for a public hearing.
At 10 a.m., Kotschwar will discuss a complaint about the privacy of the county's property search on the county's web site: www.co.red-willow.ne.us/assessor.html and Red Willow - GIS Workshop Property Search.
Other agenda items include:
9:30 a.m. -- Discussion of the county employees' health insurance plan with Mitch Lyster and Sam Nigro of Northwestern Mutual Financial Network.
11 a.m. -- Appoint Lloyd Smith of Niobrara Valley Consultants LLC to perform the duties of county highway superintendent; prioritize federal aid projects for 2012 to be submitted to the Nebraska Department of Roads.
11:15 a.m. -- Consider moving payroll claims day from Monday, Feb. 28, to Tuesday, Feb. 22, and schedule a special meeting on Feb. 22 to approve payroll claims.
11:30 a.m. -- Approve the county's three-year comprehensive juvenile services plan, with Chris Berry of Lutheran Family Services of Nebraska Inc.
The consent agenda includes discussion of a household hazardous waste grant application.
