HOLDREGE, Nebraska -- Douglas Wayne Tidyman, 54, passed away on Tuesday (Jan. 18, 2011), at the Phelps Memorial Health Center in Holdrege.

Funeral services for Douglas W. Tidyman will be conducted from the First United Methodist Church in Holdrege on Friday, 2 p.m., with the Rev. Dale Lambert officiating. Interment will be in the Prairie Home Cemetery in Holdrege.

He was born Dec. 9, 1956, in Pueblo, Colorado, the eldest of three children born to Milton and Betty "Roseann" (Walker) Tidyman. Doug received his education from Culbertson, Nebraska, graduating from Culbertson High School with the class of 1975.

On April 9, 1975, Doug was united in marriage to Terry L. Johnson in McCook, Nebraska, and to this union three sons were born: Steven, Scott and Joshua. With Doug's line of work, the family made their home in Trenton, Nebraska, Aurora, Missouri, Jackson, Minnesota and then settled in Holdrege. Throughout the years, Doug was employed by Miller Weeder Inc. in Stratton, Nebraska, and then Cuddy Farms in Aurora, Missouri and Jackson, Minnesota. While in Holdrege, he worked at Rapid Lube Auto Center and prior to his passing at Allmand Brothers Inc.

Doug was a member of the First United Methodist Church, where he enjoyed singing in the church choir and also enjoyed camping, fishing, hunting and trap shooting. His grandkids were the joy of his life.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents; grandson, Juston; and brother-in-law, Mike Johnson.

Doug leaves to mourn his passing his wife, Terry of Holdrege; three sons, Steve Tidyman and wife, Nicole of Lakefield, Minnesota, Scott Tidyman and wife, Amy of Aurora, Missouri, and Josh Tidyman and wife, Nicole of Holdrege; five grandchildren, Jonathan Tidyman, Aubree and Landen Tidyman, and Chyenne and Aurora Tidyman; his parents, Milton Tidyman of North Platte, Nebraska, and Roseann Moore and husband, Fred of Purdy, Missouri; one sister, Vicki Knight of McCook; one brother, James Tidyman of Culbertson; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Richard and Shirley Johnson of Holdrege; step-brothers, Steve and Scott Moore of Missouri; step-sisters, Brenda Russell and Cathy Shepard of Missouri; two sisters-in-law, Tammy Nelson and her husband, Jerry of Holdrege and Debra Ritz of Clovis, New Mexico; a good friend that was like a brother to Doug, Mike Wagner of Culbertson; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Visitation is Thursday, 1-8 p.m., with the family greeting friends from 6-7:30 p.m. at the Nelson-Bauer Funeral Home in Holdrege.

A memorial has been established in his memory and will be designated at a later date.
