OBERLIN, Kansas -- Leigh Davis, 51, died Thursday (Jan. 13, 2011), at Via Christi St. Francis Hospital in Wichita, Kansas.
She was born Feb. 6, 1959, in Hays, Kansas, to D.J. and Judy Broadbrooks Davis. She was raised in Norton, Kansas. She attended Norton grade and high schools, graduating in 1977. She then attended Kansas Wesleyan University in Salina, Kansas, receiving her master's degree in education.
She moved to Oberlin in 1981. where she was an English, Speech and Drama teacher at Decatur Community High School.
She was a member of the Lund Covenant Church, and the Kansas National Education Association
She was preceded in death by an infant sister, Kimberly Davis; cousins, Myron Kiusener, Keye Westbrook, and Steve Broadbooks II.
She is survived by her mother, Judy Davis of Oberlin; father, D.J. Davis and wife, Helen Keller-Davis, of Palco, Kansas; brothers, Donald and wife, Cynthia Davis Jr. of Phoenix, Arizona, and Larry Davis of Denver, Colorado; sister, Barbara Balser of Salina; seven nieces; and two great-nephews.
Funeral services are Monday, 2 p.m., at the United Methodist Church in Oberlin with the Rev. Linda Wiley officiating. Interment is in the Oberlin Cemetery.
There is no visitation.
