OBERLIN, Kansas -- Fern G. Wenger, 88, died Wednesday (Dec. 8, 2010), at Decatur County Hospital in Oberlin.
She was born April 19, 1922, on the family farm near Herndon, Kansas, to George and Olive (Feldman) Erikson.
She was raised in the Herndon Community and attended Laing School and Decatur Community High School graduating in 1940.
On Aug. 28, 1946, she married Dwight Wenger. They lived in Oberlin.
She was a school teacher and homemaker.
She was a member of the Oberlin Covenant Church and the Pi Alpha Club.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and siblings, Kermit and Cordette Erikson, and Eula Waldo.
She is survived by sons, Ronald and wife, Linda Wenger of Dayton, Tennessee, and Evan and wife, Cathy Wenger of Aubrey, Texas; daughter, Jodie Wenger and husband, Terry Jones of Topeka, Kansas.; sisters, Eulaine Benda of Oberlin; sister-in-law, Eris and husband, Dale Young of OBerlin; four grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were today at Pauls Funeral Home in Oberlin with the Revs. Sharon and Chris Nelson officiating. Interment is in the Oberlin Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to Oberlin Covenant Church and Cedar Living Center.
