Donald Dean Musgrave

INDIANOLA, Nebraska -- Donald Dean Musgrave, 74, passed away Monday (Nov. 15, 2010), at the Cambridge Hospital in Cambridge, Nebraska.
Dean was born Feb. 1, 1936, in Indianola to parents Hiram and Bernadine (Malleck) Musgrave. Dean spent his younger years in Indianola.
He entered the U.S. Air Force on Nov. 5, 1953. He served as Master Sergeant during the Korean and Vietnam War era making a twenty year career earning the South Vietnamese Bronze Star Medal. He was honorably discharged on Nov. 30, 1973. He returned to the Indianola community where he farmed until his retirement.
On April 13, 1955, he was united in marriage to Theresa Hay in Trenton, Nebraska. She preceded him in death. He later married Myrna (England) Barnett on Nov. 3, 1990, in McCook, Nebraska.
Dean attended McCook Christian Church. He was a member of the Indianola American Legion Mathias Colling Post No. 344. His hobbies included fishing, hunting, playing cards, golfing and telling stories. His first love was his family followed by his Angus cattle.
Preceding him in death were his parents, Hiram and Bernadine Musgrave; wife, Theresa Musgrave; two sisters, Agnes Musgrave, and Delores and husband, Tom Humphrey; father and mother-in-law, Leonard and Winifred England; sister, Donna and husband, Gary Lambert; brother-in-law, Dale England; niece, Laura Lynn England; two nephews, Randy England and Steven Lambert; and son-in-law Douglas Welch.
Survivors include his wife, Myrna Musgrave of Indianola; daughters, Teresa "Terry" Welch of Curtis, Nebraska, and Deborah Manning and husband, Todd of Topeka, Kansas; sons, Thomas Musgrave and wife, Kristi of McCook, Dale Musgrave and wife, Tammy of Ong, Nebraska; and Richard Barnett and wife, Kimberly of McCook; brothers, Ronald Musgrave and wife, Barbara of Fountain, Colorado, Roger Musgrave and wife, Barbara of McCook, and Gary Musgrave and wife, Jonel of Granby, Colorado; 13 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and a host of friends.
Memorials may be given in his name.
Visitation is Thursday, 1-8 p.m., with family greetings friends from 6--8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Funeral services are Friday, 10 a.m., at McCook Christian Church with Jerry Beckenhauer and Pastor Clark Bates officiating. Cremation will follow the service. Inurnment will be held at a later time in the Indianola Cemetery.
