'Night on the Hill' raises $14,971

Hillcrest Homegrown Scholarship recipients, Teresa Tucker, RN, left, and Lindsay Vigneur, RN, spoke about the difference a scholarship made in their education and nursing experiences.Shellie Winder and daughter Rachel served decadent desserts to donors including chocolate and vanilla pizzelles, chocolate with vanilla filling cream puffs, vanilla with chocolate filling cream puffs, french chocolate macaroons, Kaluha truffle brownies, baklava, chocolate tarts, vanilla bean cheesecake with cranberry sauce, triple chocolate cheesecake with chocolate sauce, prima dona cake with white chocolate buttercream, and chocolate truffle layer cake. Hillcrest Administrator Peg Rogers and husband, Dick Rogers closed the evening with the announcement that $14, 971 had been raised.

MCCOOK, Nebraska -- Hillcrest Nursing Home Foundation conducted their annual fundraiser "Night On the Hill" on Sunday evening at Hillcrest Nursing Home. A dynamic committee created a successful event that included a musical performance by Paul Siebert, a wine grab bag, decadent desserts, fabulous appetizers, and a silent auction which raised a total of $14,971 for the Foundation.

There were several highlights to the evening, especially the speeches by Teresa Tucker, RN and Lindsay Vigneur, RN. They were heartfelt and truly connected with the audience as they shared their education and nursing experiences. Teresa and Lindsay are both recipients of the Hillcrest Homegrown scholarship program, which receives funding from Night on the Hill.

Congratulations were extended to Susan Yates, the winner of the 5-day, 4-night stay at the Scottsdale, Arizona Condo donated by Tim Olson, The Olson Group.

Silent Auction packages were purchased by: Leigh Ann and Kelvin Miller, Peggy and Dick Rogers, Randy and Kathy Dean, Pam and Greg Gaston, Mike and Susan Harris-Broomfield, Jim and Donna Hall, Kent Craw, Virginia and Merlin Brown, Don and Alice Harpst, Darrin and Jeri Lynn Karr, Senator Tom and Pat Baker, Robert Tigner, Jim Ulrich, Carol Samway, Daphne and James Tidyman, Brad and Sharleen Riemenschneider, Kurt Ringenberg and Mack Alspaugh, and Angus and Verjean Garey.

Two committees worked diligently to make the event a success. The auction committee includes: Terry Coder, Lynn Driml-Pinkal, Christy Dugger, Dr. Kristin Fornander, Sandy Krysl, and Leigh Ann Miller. Steering committee members are: Lisa Beideck, Virginia Brown, Phyllis Coolidge, Joan Gilliam, Dixie Lorentz, Flora Lundberg, Tamra Neel, Stacy Phillips, Jeri Powell, Peg Rogers, Ethyl Siegfried, Lynn Soncksen and Daphne Tidyman.

A big thanks to all that attended and donated to the event, whether with items or services for the silent auction or tablecloths from local groups. It takes a community effort to make this event a success.
