HAIGLER, Nebraska -- Carl Loren Stiglmire, 73, died Monday (Oct. 25, 2010) at Dundy County Hospital in Benkelman, Nebraska.

He was born June 13, 1937, in Basehor, Kansas, to Carl and May (Florence) Stiglmire and was a graduate of Basehor High School.

He served his country during World War II in Germany and returned to Basehor after receiving his honorable discharge.

Most of his life was spent in the salvage business in Colorado. He and his significant other, Linda, moved to Haigler in 2003.

He is preceded in death by his father; and his sister, Carol Ann Laris.

Survivors include his mother, May; sister, Florence Pouppirt; daughter, Caroline Adamson; his longtime companion, Linda Tischler; three step-children; and 16 grandchildren.

His body was cremated with no local services being planned. An inurnment at his family's plot in Leavenworth, Kansas will take place at a later time.

A memorial has been established in his name.
