CURTIS, Nebraska -- Elane L. Fischer, 75, died Saturday (Oct. 23, 2010), at the Gothenburg Memorial Hospital in Gothenburg, Nebraska.

Elane was born Feb. 1, 1935, at her grandparents Frederick and Louise Waltemath home in Moorefield, Nebraska. She was baptized on Feb. 17, 1935.

Elane was preceded in death by her husband, Richard E., on Jan. 19, 1984; her parents, Royal and Bertha (Waltemath) Anderson; two brothers, Gaylord Anderson killed in World War II, and Robert and wife, Elinita Anderson; and godparents, Paul and Kate Lenz.

She is survived by her brother, Allan and wife, Barbara Anderson of McCook, Nebraska; one daughter, Pamela Gay Anderson of Grand Island, Nebraska; one son, Duane and wife, Joyce Fischer of Norton, Kansas; five grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

She attended school at Buchanan No. 73 through the eighth grade. She then attended UNSA in Curtis, graduating in 1952.

The couple farmed south of Curtis all their married life. She moved to Curtis following her husband's death. She was the director of the senior center for 23 years.

She was a member in the American Legion Auxiliary of Curtis, the Gaylord Anderson VFW in Maywood, Nebraska and was a Gold Star Sister.

Funeral services are at St. John's Lutheran Church in Curtis on Saturday, 2 p.m., with the Rev. Derrick Brown officiating. Burial will follow in the Curtis Cemetery in Curtis.

Visitation is at St. John's Lutheran Church in Curtis on Saturday, 9 a.m. until 2 p.m.
