TRENTON, Nebraska -- Violet L. Myers, 86, passed away Thursday (Oct. 14, 2010), at El Dorado Manor in Trenton.

She was born June 21, 1924, to Joseph and Emma (Hruska) Ruzicka in Oberlin, Kansas. She graduated from Oberlin High School in 1942.

She married Lloyd V. Myers in Oberlin on Oct. 25, 1942. To this union four children were born.

Violet enjoyed gardening, reading, traveling, cruises and especially spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a farm girl at heart, and owned her farm right up to her death.

She was a charter member and past president of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, the Eureka Chapter OES, and Rebecca's Circle.

She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Richard; brother, Premsyl "Bud" Ruzicka.

She is survived by her husband of 68 years, Lloyd of McCook, Nebraska; daughter, Susan Wells and husband, Ken of McCook; sons, Ron Myers and wife, Vicky of North Platte, Nebraska, Roger Myers of North Platte; brother, George Ruzicka and wife, Willa of Oberlin; 13 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Memorials may be given in her name to the American Cancer Society.

Funeral services are Tuesday, 2 p.m., at Carpenter Breland Funeral Home with Mike Roth officiating. Burial will take place in Memorial Park Cemetery.

Visitation is today until 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
