CURTIS, Nebraska -- Gary Wayne Nutt, 75, died Friday (Sept. 10, 2010), at Centennial Park Retirement Village in North Platte, Nebraska.

He was born July 24, 1935, in North Platte, to Lynn and Margaret (Linnemeyer) Nutt. He was baptized and confirmed at St. John's Lutheran Church in Curtis.

He graduated from the University of Nebraska School of Agriculture in 1953.

He married Leona Glaze Dec. 26, 1955.

He lived all his life in the Curtis area working as a mechanic, telephone lineman, bulldozer operator, carpenter and farmer.

He belonged to the Tractor and Machinery Collectors of Southwest Nebraska.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and grandson, Derrick Nutt.

He is survived by his wife, Leona; children, Dale Nutt and wife, Susan of Curtis, Janice and husband, Dean Large of Wauneta, Nebraska, and Dean Nutt and wife, Cathy of North Platte; brothers, Lester Nutt and wife, Mickey of Curtis, Louie Nutt and wife, Linda of Wellfleet, Nebraska; sisters, Janice and husband, Mert van New Kirk of Scottsbluff, Nebraska, Alice and husband, Don McEwan of Emmetsburg, Iowa, and Carmy Howe of Omaha; brother-in-law, Gorman Glaze and wife, Luella of Curtis, MaryAnn and husband, Bob Mercer of Curtis, and Louise and husband, Marvin Gardner of Brush, Colorado; 10 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren,

Funeral services are Tuesday, 11 a.m., at St. John's Lutheran Church in Curtis with the Rev. Derrick Brown officiating. Interment will follow at Curtis Cemetery.

Visitation is today until 8 p.m. with family present from 6-8 p.m. at Blase-Wetzel-Strauser Memorial Chapel in Curtis.
