McCOOK, Nebraska -- McCook Area Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors chose Linda Maiden State Farm Insurance as the fourth quarter honor business during their meeting on Wednesday. The award will be presented on Thursday, Oct. 7 at 10:00 a.m.

The board also received updates on the successful move of the Chamber office to the Keystone Business Center. Special recognition was given to the Work Ethic Camp for their help, and to Matt Stebbins of 21st Century Systems.

"Life's Shining Moments" is the theme for the 2010 Heritage Days Celebration to be held Sept. 22 to 26. The kick-off will begin on Wednesday of that week with a Chamber Mixer at McCook National Bank where the honor family, royalty, grand marshal and parade marshal will be announced. Bill Harris will speak on the "Tennessee Valley Authority" at the George W. Norris Foundation Prayer Breakfast to be held at the Heritage Senior Center on Friday, September 22, followed by activities throughout the day at the Senior Center.

A quilt show, programs at the Fox Theatre, United Way Road Race, and food and entertainment in Norris Park will also be part of a family-friendly fun weekend celebration. Chamber Director Pam Harsh told the board that the number of booths in Norris Park is up from last year, so she is encouraging everyone to come out and participate in the fun.

One of the highlights of Heritage Days is the parade on Saturday, and the entry deadline of September 15 is fast approaching.

With the help of Walmart and numerous other business donors, the Chamber will be welcoming area educators to a new school year at a brunch this Saturday at 10 a.m. The brunch will be held at WalMart and includes door prizes donated by Chamber members.

Attending the Nebraska Chamber of Commerce Executives Conference in Norfolk last month should pay dividends for the McCook Area Chamber of Commerce, according to Harsh. She informed the board that she was able to bring home a lot of ideas from other Chambers, and she is anxious to incorporate some of them into the McCook Chamber.
