STRATTON, Nebraska -- Phillip John Andrijeski, 64, died Monday (July 19, 2010) at the Sutherland Care Center in Sutherland.
He was born Jan. 17, 1946, in Stratton to Herman F. and Eula M. (Hay) Andrijeski. He lived on the family farm south of Stratton until 1952 when the farm became part of Swanson Reservoir. The family then moved to their farm north of Stratton.
He spent most of his adult life at Southwest Area Training Center in McCook until 2007 when he moved to Heritage of Wauneta due to his health.
Preceding him in death were his parents, Herman and Eula Andrijeski; and brother-in-law, Raymond Vrbas.
Survivors include his three sisters, Carolyn Vrbas of Ottawa, Kansas, Marlene Schmaderer and husband, Al of Manhattan, Kansas, and Sheryl Knopp and husband, Marvin of Scott City, Kansas; two brothers, Arnold Andrijeski and wife, JoAnn of Tampa, Florida, and Bernard Andrijeski and Sandra of Stratton.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, 2 p.m., at St. Joseph Catholic Church with the Rev. Tom Wiedel, celebrant. Interment will follow services at Rose Hill Cemetery near Stratton.
A vigil and rosary service will be Thursday, 7 p.m., at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Stratton.
Memorials can be given in his name to the McCook YMCA.
