McCOOK, Nebraska -- Dorothy Sophie (Hofman Reiners) Malone, 98, went to be with her Heavenly Father on Sunday (July 11, 2010), at Hillcrest Nursing Home.

Dorothy was born Feb. 6, 1912, to Henry and Dorothea (Wall) Hofman in Red Willow County, Nebraska.

She married William Reiners on April 24, 1937. To this union, three children were born, Mary Lou, Jane and Jerry. Bill died on Sept. 12, 1948.

On July 28, 1958, Dorothy married Gale Malone. He died on Dec. 20, 1996.

Dorothy was baptized and confirmed into the Lutheran faith at St. John's Lutheran Church in McCook and was an active member in the church. She was a member of Peace Lutheran Church of McCook. Dorothy truly loved her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Dorothea Hofman; husbands, Bill Reiners and Gale Malone; eight brothers, George, Bill, Henry, Martin, Carl, Walter, Ervin and Victor Hofman; eight sisters, Martha Zweygardt, Clara Hofman, Ida Gigax, Elizabeth Hilt, Bertha Reiners, Caroline Reiners, Leah Snyder and Erma Hoeme and their spouses; sons-in-law, Arnie Schuster and Clifford McGregar and step-daughter, Nancy McDougal.

Survivors include her children, Jerry Reiners and wife, Karen of Norfolk, Arkansas, Jane Schuster of McCook and Mary Lou and husband, Boyd Sherwood of Los Alamos, New Mexico; five step-children, Gary Malone and wife, Judy of Palisade, Evelyn McGregor of Elsie, Alta and husband, Robert Keating of Palisade, Connie Havel of Yakima, Washington, and Bonnie and husband, Gregg Johnson of Ogallala; sisters-in-law, Elsie Hofman of Imperial, and Helen Hofman of Salida, Colorado; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and a host of friends.

Memorial services will be Saturday, 10 a.m., at Peace Lutheran Church with Pastor Tom Albertson officiating. Inurnment will be at St. John's (Ash Creek) Lutheran Cemetery rural McCook.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to KNGN Christian Radio Station or givers choice.
