Happy Fourth!

Thursday, July 1, 2010

Indianola's firefighters light up the July 4 night sky last year with red-white-blue-and-yellow sparklers -- as they do every year to celebrate America's freedom and heritage. Indianola's fireworks are scheduled to go off this year at dark Saturday, on the baseball field on the west edge of town. Bring lawn chairs and mosquito spray, and a couple dollars and a little change for a free-will donation to drop in the fire boot. Eustis will kick off Southwest Nebraska's and Northwest Kansas' celebration of the Fourth of July, setting off community fireworks on Friday. Indianola, Imperial and Arapahoe will set off their Fourth of July fireworks on Saturday, July 3, and other area community plan fireworks on Sunday, the Fourth. Eustis: Friday, at dusk, at the fairgrounds. Indianola: Saturday, at dusk, on the ball field. Imperial: Saturday after dark, on the fairgrounds. Arapahoe: Saturday, at dusk, on the ball field. Atwood: Sunday, at dark, at Lake Atwood. Herndon: Sunday, at 10 p.m., in the City Park. Benkelman: Sunday, at dark, at Ward Bond Park. Culbertson: Sunday, 10 p.m., on the fairgrounds.
