YORK, Nebraska -- Daryl E. Nyberg, 68, died Sunday (June 20, 2010) in York.
He was born Feb. 12, 1942 in Central City, Nebraska to Edwin and Elna (Stranberg) Nyberg. He grew up in Polk and in 1956, during his sophomore year of high school, he and his family moved to Holdrege.
He and DeLane Burgeson were united in marriage on July 22, 1962 in Wilcox.
He worked in Co-op management in several Nebraska co-ops including Trenton and retired from the McCool Jct. Farmers Co-op in 2007 after 45 years.
Following his retirement, he worked at York General Hospital in the pulmonary department as a delivery driver.
He was a member of the Arbor Drive Community Church in York where he served as a trustee.He was a kidney transplant recipient eight years ago at the Nebraska Medical Center from a live donor, Jerie Quinty.
Preceding him in death were his father; brother, Dennis; and great-grandson, Aiden.
Survivors include his wife DeLane of York; two children, Jeff and wife, Trisha Nyberg of Olathe, Kansas, and Carla and husband, Todd Wilson of Lincoln; mother, Elna Nyberg of Holdrege; one sister, Ardell and husband, the Rev. Ron Day of Land O'Lake, Florida; two brothers, Larry and wife, Julie Nyberg of Loomis, and Bob and wife, Carrie Nyberg of Seward; sisters-in-law, Coleene and husband, Virgil Gellermann of Columbus, and Vicki Burgeson of York; eight grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday at the Arbor Drive Community Church with the Rev. Brad Johnson officiating. A private graveside services will be at York's Greenwood Cemetery.
There will be no viewing or visitation.
Memorials may be directed to the American Cancer Society, York Adopt-A-Pet, the Arbor Drive Community Church or the Nebraska Medical Center's Kidney Transplant Program.
