CAņON CITY, Colorado -- Lyle Francis Bergin, 86, formerly of Indianola, died Wednesday (April 14, 2010) at Caņon City, Colorado.
He was born Nov. 11, 1923, in Indianola to James Francis Bergin and Elma Matilda (Jensen) Bergin.
He grew up in Indianola and served in World War II in the Pacific Theater. After the war he was employed for many years at the United States Bureau of Reclamation in McCook.
On April 17, 1948, he married Margaret Elizabeth Allen in Indianola. He resided in Indianola until 2002 he moved to Caņon City to be close to family.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and one sister, LaVerna Bush.
He is survived by Margaret, his wife of almost 62 years, of Canon City; his son, David Bergin and wife, Cathy, of Caņon City; his daughter Janet Bergin, of Caņon City; and three grandchildren.
Funeral mass will be celebrated at St. Catherine's Catholic Church in Indianola, Monday, 10 a.m. (CDT), with the Rev. Thomas McGuire as celebrant. Rosary will be recited at Carpenter Breland Funeral Home on Sunday at 7 pm (CDT). Burial will be in St. Catherine's Cemetery.
Visitation will be Saturday, 9 a.m. to noon, and Sunday, 4 p.m. until the time of the rosary.
