BARTLEY -- Darrell L. Earl, 85, died Wednesday (March 10, 2010) at the Cambridge Manor.
He was born Aug. 24, 1924, in Bartley to Harry and Lexey (McCord). He attended Bartley Schools.
In 1945, he was inducted into the U. S. Army. He was sent to the Asiatic -- Pacific Campaign and was discharged in 1946.
In 1948 he married Esther Ruppel and lived in Colorado for 45 years. On July 27, 1991, he married Gladys (Clapp) Liston. He moved to the Cambridge Manor after some health concerns.
He worked as a truckdriver transporting new vehicles, potatoes and other freight. He was a bus driver for Continental Tailways Bus Company.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Lexey; a sister, Marsha Higgens and brother, Gary Earl.
Survivors include his wife, Gladys of Bartley; three sons, Michael Earl and friend, Brenda Hansen of Otis, Colo., Richard and wife, Carol Earl of Westford, Mass. and Patrick and wife, Debbie of Bladenboro, N.C.; step-daughter, Tammy and husband, Jeff Linner of Upland; six grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; five great-grandchildren and four step-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be Monday, 10:30 a.m., at the Lockenour-Jones Mortuary of Cambridge with the Rev. Sherry J. Sklenar officiating. Burial will be in the Bartley Cemetery.
Military Honors will be conducted by the William Wight Post of the American Legion.
Memorials may be left in his name at the Lockenour-Jones Mortuary, which is in charge of the arrangements.
