Schedules for outdoor events are regularly altered due to rain and snow, making facilities unplayable, and McCook has not been immune from those weather conditions.
The McCook Community College women's softball squad had games scheduled Wednesday and Thursday, March 3-4, at the Jaycees Sports Complex in McCook. Those games were postponed due to wet field conditions. The Indians under first-year head coach Liz Jacoby practiced Wednesday evening indoors at the True Hall gym on the MCC campus, as the fields at the Jaycees Complex were deemed too wet for practice or games.
The MCC women have away games scheduled this weekend in southern Colorado, which hopefully will present warmer temperatures and more favorable field conditions. McCook is scheduled to visit Trinidad State Junior College for a double-header Saturday starting at 1 p.m. CST. MCC is also set to play at Otero Junior College in La Junta, Colo. Sunday for two games set to begin at 1 p.m. CST.
Jacoby's team also has road double-headers on tap on three consecutive days next week, starting with a Tuesday, March 9 trip to Colby, Kan., followed by a Wednesday, March 10 visit to Seward County C.C. in Liberal, then a Thursday. March 11 twin-bill at Garden City C.C. If Mother Nature cooperates, the Indians will see home action Saturday, March 13, against Southwest C.C. of Beatrice.
The MCC men's baseball team also had a home double-header scheduled Wednesday against Garden City, Kan. Those games were moved to Kansas, and no results were available at press time.
The baseball Indians have a home double-header scheduled Sunday against Otero Junior College starting at 1 p.m. at the Jaycees Complex located near the Red Willow Fairgrounds on West M St.
