Ruth Bernice Piper, 88, died Thursday (Jan. 28, 2010) at the Community Hospital in McCook.

She was born Jan. 17, 1922, in McCook, the daughter of the late George and Rose (Hill) Hein. She grew up at Culbertson where she graduated from Culbertson High School.

On Aug. 20, 1946, she married George Piper at Omaha and they spent their married life in Culbertson. She and her husband were in the farm implement business.

She was an active member of the Trinity United Methodist Church in Culbertson and a member of Bethel Chapter, Order of Eastern Star, the VFW Auxiliary and Culbertson Women's Club.

She was preceded in death by her husband, George on Jan. 23, 1998; her parents and one sister, Doris Welch.

Survivors include three daughters, Mary Holtmeier and husband, Doug of Lincoln, Anita Siebrecht and husband, Loren of Carroll, Iowa and Linda Rooney and husband, Rod of Culbertson; nine grandchildren, Nikki Holtmeier and husband, Peter Dees, Amber Holtmeier, Jenny Siebrecht and fiance, Josh Burgett, Jodi Siebrecht and fiance, Ross DeVolder, Chad Rooney and wife, Shari, Carrie Rooney and fiance, John Ebert, Jason Boner and wife, Kelly, Michelle Schmidt and husband, Andy, Stacey Kot and husband, Ryan; 10 great-grandchildren, Milan, Morgan, Hayden, Sydney, Abby, Claire, Cooper, Ethan, Ryder and Vivienne; as well as other relatives and friends.

Memorial services will be Saturday (Jan. 30, 2010), 3 p.m., at the Trinity United Methodist Church in Culbertson with the Rev. Corey Jenkins officiating. Inurnment will be in the Culbertson Cemetery.

Memorials may be given in her name and friends may sign her register at the service.
