Kathy Troccoli, left, and Ellie Lofaro will appear in McCook next month.

The McCook ladies retreat sponsored by the McCook Evangelical Free Church set for Saturday, Feb. 6 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. will feature Kathy Troccoli and Ellie Lofaro.

The conference for women titled, "Spaghetti for the Soul" is also the name of the featured guest's new book. Together, author and speaker, Ellie Lofaro, and singer, songwriter, author and speaker, Kathy Troccoli, invite women to come to the table as they serve up a feast of faith, hope and love.

"Ellie and I look forward to sharing about the amazing, exciting, abundant life that only Jesus gives and the most precious gifts of faith, hope, and love," said Kathy Troccoli. "To add texture, colors, aroma and some good food to the day-we are bringing "a touch of Italy" to the conference as we celebrate our genuine friendship, our New York roots and our Italian heritage. Our desire is to attract and impact both 'saints and seekers' with Spirit-filled worship, solid biblical teaching, relevant stories, an uplifting concert, a challenge to action, a call to salvation-and a healthy dose of humor," she said.

In the tradition of past McCook Evangelical Free women's retreats, the event will be at the McCook city auditorium at West Fifth and C Streets, to accommodate many women. The retreat was held at the auditorium for the first time in 2006, when Kathy Troccoli joined Dee Brestin to speak and sing.

Ellie Lofaro

Ellie Lofaro's message is a wonderful blend of plainspoken truth, common sense practicality and disarming humor. Drawing from the context of real life, she deftly handles the Word of God and steadily directs her audiences to consider what concerns them in light of God's timeless truths. With her trademark quick wit and convincing demeanor, she pairs Biblical principles with life's deeper questions. The result? An audience who willingly joins Ellie in the journey toward better understanding and applying God's grace and truth to their lives.

Ellie is a first generation American from a large Italian family. A native New Yorker, she speaks of being brought up "with the awareness of God, but not the experience of God." However, when she encountered a relationship with God through Jesus Christ, she realized her new identity as a "Capital C Christian" " "highly flawed, fully forgiven and greatly favored."

Completely convinced of God's love and His mandate to "go and tell," Ellie has committed her life to using her time and talent to inspire others with His goodness and grace. A serious student of Scripture and a keen observer of the culture, Ellie has developed a unique teaching style that touches the heart, stimulates the mind, and nourishes the soul"thus inspiring her to found Heart, Mind, & Soul Ministries. Ellie's ministry involves nationwide speaking engagements, authoring books, teaching a weekly interdenominational Bible Study, and appearing on Christian radio and television.

Ellie co-authored Spaghetti for the Soul with Kathy Troccoli. Her fifth project with David C. Cook expounds on the joys and heartaches of raising teenagers. (Summer 2009). She has also penned: From Battle Scars to Beauty Marks, Leap of Faith, Slices of Life, and Bonding with the Blonde Women. Ellie has contributed to Today's Christian Woman, Women of Faith's Connection Magazine, and compilations from seven publishing houses.
