HUTCHINSON -- Thelma I. Bainter, 86, died Saturday (Jan. 2, 2010) at Wesley Towers in Hutchinson, Kan.
She was born Sept. 13, 1923, in Vona, Colo., to Harry Rice and Juanita Patton. She grew up in Prairie View, Norton and Jennings. She graduated from Jennings High School in 1941, and from KSU, with a degree in Dietetics, in 1945.
On July 20, 1949, she married Boyd Bainter in Jennings. She lived in Concordia, Oberlin, Green Valley, Ariz., and Hutchinson, Kan. She was a dietician.
She was a member of the Oberlin United Methodist Church, P.E.O., Order of Easter Star and the American Dietetics Association.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Harry and Juanita Rice; and infant son, William Timothy Bainter.
Survivors include her husband, Boyd Bainter of Hutchinson; one son, David Bainter and wife, Melinda of Manhattan; and one daughter, Paula Bainter of Ellsworth
Memorial services are Thursday, 10:30 a.m., at Pauls Funeral Home in Oberlin with the Rev. Doug Hasty officiating. Interment will follow at Jennings Cemetery.
Visitation is today, 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., and Thursday, 8 a.m. until service time.
