WAUNETA -- Francis Fekkers, 82, died Tuesday (Dec. 29, 2009), at Chase County Hospital in Imperial.

He was born Aug. 6, 1927, to Margaret and George Fekkers in Wauneta. He was baptized April 14, 1957 at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Wauneta. He graduated from Wauneta Public High School in 1945.

He was a veteran of the Korean War.

On Sept. 23, 1956, he married Anita Boulton in St. Louis, Miss. He returned to Wauneta and worked as a farmer/rancher as well as for the Department of Agriculture.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Anita (Boulton) Fekkers; his parents, George Fekkers and Margaret (Waddington) Fekkers; one sister, Dorothy Rhoad; one brother, Jim Fekkers; three sisters-in-law, Natalie Stephens, Joey Hart-Stephens, and Darlene Boulton; and two brothers-in-law, Don Rhoad and Duane Blickenstaff.

Survivors include his son, Mike Fekkers of Corvallis, Ore., a daughter, Ruth Leidle of Lincoln; a sister, Barb Blickenstaff of Arapahoe; one sister-in-law, Nona Kerchel and husband, Keith of Wauneta; two brothers-in-law, George Boulton and his wife, Terry of Honolulu, Hawaii, and BobStephens of Lancaster, Calif.; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

The memorial service was Monday, at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Wauneta, with the Rev. Greg Stuckwisch officiating. There was no visitation.
