WAUNETA -- Esther Lee Fanning, 93, died Sunday (Dec. 27, 2009), at the Sutherland Care Center in Sutherland.
She was born Oct. 7, 1916, east of Wauneta, to William F. and Elva I. (Akers) Wright. She attended country grade school and high school in Wauneta.
On Oct. 26, 1935, she married Virgil G. Fanning. She lived on a farm near Hayes Center and later moved to a farm near Palisade, before moving to Enders in the 1960s. She was a farm wife and homemaker.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Virgil; son, Lowell; daughter, Dianne Tillotson; her parents, William F. Wright and Elva I. Wright; grandaughter, Annette Fanning; grandson, David Swanson; sister, Beulah; infant sister, Virginia; brother and sister-in-law, Harold and Verlene Wright, and brother-in-law, Howard Meyer.
Survivors include her daughter, Donna Lorine Beck of Paxton; brothers, Loran Wright and wife, Irene of Palisade, Don Wright and wife, Irene of Roswell, N.M.; four grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and six great-great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be Thursday, 10:30 a.m. (MT), at the Liewer Funeral Home in Wauneta with the Rev. Duane Dunwoody officiating. Interment will follow at Riverside Cemetery in Wauneta.
Viewing will be Thursday prior to services.
A memorial has been established in her memory.
